Class assignment Cultural Background #1
My cultural background is from Vietnam. Vietnam occupies approximately 127,243 square miles (329,560 square kilometers), an area roughly equivalent to New Mexico. Both of my parents were born and raised over there. Vietnamese people have lots of stuff they do traditionally that they would follow. Being very family oriented is a major thing, especially for the holidays. We would all get together just to get together. The biggest thing we celebrate would be Tet (Vietnamese New Year). Around that time of year which should fall between late January or early February. It gets really crazy but fun, we would celebrate it by have tons of food, family gatherings, presents, and much more. It is known because of the red envelop that we used to put money into to give to each other. It is usually the adults the ones that are handing the red envelopes out for their little nieces and nephews. I enjoy those time when they come around, because I get to see all my family members I didn't get to see in a while. Vietnamese Culture also have a different tasting for food as well. Our types of food that we have and eat, some are different from others. Takes a little while to get use to eating it because some has an acquire taste for it.
